Welcome to the Kawartha’s .. . the home of bright waters and happy lands.. Its strong agricultural heritage .. where urban meets rural.. It’s beautiful, it's serene . . but it doens’t have to be boring. In this 2 part series we will have a look at some ideas for date night.. Dating doesn’t have to be boring in the Kawartha’s!
Series number 1: … It’s still cold here in the Kawartha’s so let’s have a look at some temperature friendly events .
Who doesn’t like dinner and a show?
We have a pleatheria of dining options.. From fast food, franchise food and specialty restaurants, let me show you a few favorites right here in Lindsay Ontario
Be delighted with authentic italian cousine in the rejuvenated old Grand Experience on Kent St - At Gusto Grande ..it’s like casual -fine dining in a stylish art deco setting. I have gone with my daughter ..The service was good, the food was great and the price didn’t break the bank.
My work neighbor Pan Vino Trattoria and Wine Bar has Itialin / Meditrain food and the owner is also a certified sommelier. Not only do they have an excellent selection of wine, and amazing food options, they occasionally host events like their Holiday Market where they offered baked good, wine baskets and had other local vendors there too. On girls night I had a little antipasto / chacuterie and pizza, paired with wine. Oh so divine.
My go to for lunch and evenings too is the Olympia restaurant. It’s in its third generation of being a family owned restaurant since 1906 in Downtown Lindsay. I have a couple favorites there.. The Greek salad is divine and I love their liver! If you are a liver lover, you won’t find it better anywhere else in Lindsay.. I swear… BUT .. Don’t worry if you are not a liver lover like me, their menu is vast with greek specialties and classic menu items. The owners make you feel special the moment you walk in the door.
One Eyed Jack is a great pub and grill .. while the Pie Eyed Monk has an original venue and also has a craft brewery. We have sushi, thai, pizza, japanese, fish and chips and wing places too. Your palatte will be pleased with the dining options for date night!
Within walking distance to most of these restaurants you can enjoy the latest blockbuster at the Century 3 Cinima. . and enjoy some history too. It has been operating since 1951!
Or maybe a live show is more preferable?
We have a little theatre .. Lindsay’s Little Theatre actually. While the venue is small.. The cast and crew are not. My daughter performed quite a bit here singing and acting .. So a cozy date night and supporting the young people in our community at the same time.
Or maybe a take in some live music or academy performance at the Acadamy Theatre. There is history here too and the acoustics here will knock your socks off. I swear. I’ve seen many shows, heard many songs and watched many dances there too, it never disappoints.
Maybe a Winter Walk in Ken Reid? They have an illuminated forest that makes you feel like you are in a fairy tail.. . Or maybe an outdoor skate for your date. Lindsay has a few outdoor spots and a newer skating loop too.
Speaking of skating.. Our Lindsay Muskie Junior A Team is fast paced and their home at the Lindsay Rec. Centre offers lots of parking and it’s not too cold in there either.
Do you like to Bowl? Our Strikepoint Bowling Centre has several lanes and I am pretty sure a rock a bowl too.
Or maybe a virtual reality gaming event would be more enjoyable? Visit our Lindsay Square mall and Control V. They have many different virtual gaming options that I am sure will please.
